Dissident Russian artist Andrei Molodkin plans to protest against the Catholic Church by filling a sculpture with human blood donated by abuse victims. He intends to project the sculpture onto the gates of Vatican City, the home of the Pope. Molodkin, known for his controversial artwork, expects Catholics to be offended by his protest but claims he is not bothered by their reaction. Inspired by the late singer Sinead O’Connor, Molodkin believes his stunt will provoke a similar outrage to O’Connor’s protest against abuse in the Catholic Church in 1992. He hopes to give a voice to those who have been abused and criticizes the power and secrecy of the Catholic Church.
